Web Programmer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The web programmer will be working with the team to create and update web sites and web applications. The job requires excellent computer and Internet skills. Decent HTML skills required, but the focus of this position is working with scripting languages and databases to develop the back-end functionality of web applications. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty of the job outlined below, and to accept special projects as assigned.

Website Development

  • Work with various scripting languages (PHP, ASP, ASP.net, etc.) to connect web applications to databases and manipulate data
  • Work with frameworks to rapidly build web applications when situations allow
  • Design, modify and maintain web databases (MySQL, MSSQL)
  • Develop code that is maintainable and robust
  • Learn new languages and technologies when a project requires
  • Maintain an understanding of existing and emerging Internet and Web technologies
  • Use creativity and a high degree of technical and professional judgment in order to resolve design and technical challenges
  • Understand functional requirements and what is needed to build the required website
  • Work with other members of the team to implement the creative direction of multiple websites

This position will be for 40 hours per week. You will report directly to our Interactive Director. You must have a minimum of 1-3 years of web development experience and a strong foundation in HTML, MySQL/MSSQL, PHP, ASP.net, and ASP to apply for this position. Web Development Intern

The successful web developer will be working with the team to create and update websites for multiple topics and categories. The job requires excellent computer and Internet skills and proficiency with HTML/CSS. Knowledge of dynamic publishing systems (PHP/MySQL) preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty of the job outlined below, and to accept special projects as assigned.

Website Development

  • Implement HTML/CSS layouts from page mockups using CSS style
  • Create HTML templates and style sheets
  • Work within strict style guidelines and quality standards
  • Test websites and work with team to fix database and design errors

Website Design

  • Aid in the design and development of databases when necessary
  • Maintain an understanding of existing and emerging Internet and Web technologies
  • Use creativity and a high degree of technical and professional judgment in order to resolve design and technical challenges
  • Understand functional requirements and what is needed to build the required website
  • Work with other members of the team to implement the creative direction of multiple websites
